Will Smith tem, neste filme de Gabriele Muccino, talvez a sua melhor interpretação de sempre e daí ter sido nomeado para um Globo de Ouro e para um Oscar.Será também importante realçar que Will Smith contracenou com Jaden Smith, o seu filho, que também tem uma interpretação excelente.
Este filme é baseado numa estória verídica de um homem, Christopher Gardner (Will Smith) que não se deixa derrotar por todos os azares que lhe vão acontecendo e nunca perde o seu filho, Christopher (Jaden Smith) de vista e tenta incutir-lhe o seu espírito de sobrevivente.
Apesar de ser um drama biográfico de ir às lágrimas, The Pursuit of Happyness tem apontamentos de comédia muito bem conseguidos.
Christopher Gardner: [to his son] You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.
Christopher Gardner: Probably means there's a good chance. Possibly means we might or we might not.
Christopher: Okay.
Christopher Gardner: So, what does probably mean?
Christopher: It means we have a good chance.
Christopher Gardner: And what does possibly mean?
Christopher: I know what it means! It means we're not going to the game.
