"Os meus filmes" nunca poderia começar com outro que não fosse o Notting Hill, um dos meus filmes favoritos.
Com este filme consigo rir, sorrir, suspirar e até me caem umas lágrimas.
O filme de Roger Michell é uma comédia romântica com Julia Roberts e o fabuloso Hugh Grant.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) é uma famosa actriz americana que tem a sorte (ou não) de estar em Londres e em Notting Hill (of all places). É em Notting Hill que conhece William Thacker um falhado dono de livraria.
Tal e qual estória puramente romântica, os dois acabam por se apaixonar e desta vez é o homem que sai magoado. Eles lá andam em encontros e desencontros durante o filme e por fim Anna rende-se ao óbvio e ao seu amor por William:
P.R. Chief: Dominic… if you'd like to ask your question again?
Journalist: Yes. Anna, how long are you intending to stay here in Britain?
Anna Scott: Indefinitely.
Para cair a lágrima que teima em ficar o canto do olho:
William: I live in Notting Hill. You live in Beverly Hills. Everyone in the world knows who you are, my mother has trouble remembering my name.
Anna Scott: I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.
O filme tem ainda a sorte de ter comno personagens secundárias bonecos de puro génio, o que faz toda a diferença:
Spike: Just going to the kitchen to get some food, then I'm going to tell you a story that will make your balls shrink to the size of raisins.
É, sem dúvida, um filme para ver e rever vezes sem conta!
